The top of my little garden fence
is the graveyard for the gardening tools that break.
I broke two rakes today!
I'm going to have to try and fix some of these tools.
Morgan denies digging this hole!
Here are the holey hens!
Sometimes it looks like they are trying to dig up the oak trees.
Maybe they are truffle hunters?
Truffle hens?
Are there truffles in California?
They love digging around oak trees.
Maybe there are oak tree grubs?
or?
1 egg today

I think my hole digger has retired - she grew up! :-)
Morgan never has been much of a digger. She is much more interested in chasing squirrels up the trees and keeping them up there than digging holes. The chickens are the diggers.
One of the problems with Blogger is that they made some change recently that is not user friendly. (Go figure, right?)
They have removed the option that lets followers receive additional comments from many posts.
So unless I remember to come back to this post, I will probably not see your reply. :(
Whatever they did, it is the worst change they have ever made.
Now that I've gotten that off my chest, I love your pictures.
I am guessing that for whatever reason, oak trees have more grubs and things living around them that your chickens enjoy. :-)
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Good place to put them!

Oh dear... maybe this is not such a good idea after all. I was hoping that I might be able to reply this way, but it doesn't sound promising at all. Thanks for the info. I guess oak trees are where the good eats hang out.
Clint...
I like the looks of rusty old tools and this seemed like a good use. Thanks!
My three hens love to dig around any tree. It is dangerous to walk in my yard because they find a teeny bare spot and make it a big hole. The bare spot can be the size of a quarter and they enlarge it to hold a basketball.
By the way, comments under the comments themselves means I never see them. Or maybe not. The way my blog comments to comments works for me. This setup of yours seems different. Maybe not.
Of course, the hens dug the hole. They were dirt bathing I'm sure.
Is Morgan lying? LOO
Linda:
I was hoping that when a commenter came back to read another post they could check the comment they had left last time and see if I left a comment. Maybe this is not such a good idea after all.
Becky:
The dirt was wet so ... no dusting until it dries out. They were looking for something to eat.
Carol:
Morgan only lies about food. She tries to convince me that I forgot to feed her and I should get busy and fill her food dish.
