I rake paths that cross the property, but there is also a path that follows the fence line all the way around the 3 acres. I rake the paths for fun, for exercise, for easy access to the fence, and so that Tom has a neat place to walk his dog. Unfortunately, Lucky is a hunter of anything animal!(Yes, Tom has a dog that is always on leash or confined because it is a chicken killer and any animal it can get its teeth into. Except he likes to play with Morgan.)
Also the paths make it easy to clear brush and debris to make the property more fire safe so the firemen who inspect the property will give it a pass.

The chickens sometimes follow the paths and scratch out leaves on the paths and at times uncover the bottom of the fence. Then I get to rake it all up again. Good thing that I really like raking my paths!
