Christmas Potholders In The Works

This is how far my potholders have gotten.
The plan was to use up quilt scraps
and stash and make some gifts.

But, we aren't feeling too good and are fighting off colds or flu.
So, I didn't get very far with the sewing part
but I did look up a lot of potholder tutorials and along the way
found some very interesting history about
potholder Civil War quilts.

I never knew about Civil War pot holder quilts.
Who knew... not me.

I'll be looking at my potholders with a lot more respect.

I was going to start raking leaves today
but I didn't feel well and there was a lot of wind
and I didn't want to catch a tree branch.

Yesterday, Kristine said, "Mom, take a picture of Morgan!"
Well, I've never seen her lick the wall before.
Maybe she wants me to wash the wall?

No eggs.

It's so easy to get side tracked, isn't it? ;-)

Hi Callie,

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. I hope to sit own and look through your blog when I have more time. I have a book on Civil War Quilts. I got it at the fabric store a few years ago. Have you seen it? I had a vision of making a quilt...once...my MIL finished it for me. Potholders are more up my alley. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

We have 2 boys with colds.
I am sure your potholders will be well received no matter when they arrive. Take care of yourselves!

We've been getting a few eggs, but it's totally random.

I had to come over, because when our chickens get on the back porch, my 2 year old twins start yelling "CHICKENS ON THE PORCH, CHICKENS ON THE PORCH!" So I wanted to check out your blog ;-)

Hi Calllie ~ Hope you're feeling better. Can't wait to see your potholders , bet they'll be beautiful.
My chickens have been molting , so we haven't been getting many eggs either. I had one hen that didn't molt , so we get an egg every other day from her. All the girls are getting older , really need to get a few new hens.

Blessings , JoyceAnn
