Sprouts Day Two And A Night

It was sunny today! Soon those oaks will have tiny green leaves. We are going to be having warm days for at least a week.

Kristine brought home the latest Foreigner book by C. J. Cherryh, so I'm going to post this and then go to bed and read for a while and then hopefully go to sleep early so I can get up early and work outside tomorrow.

Kristine is searching the internet for information about grants or fellowships for undergraduates. Not an easy job at all to find the information you want. There are lots of sites that will take your money  to find grants. I think I will be spending a lot of time doing my own searching for grants.

Sometimes chickens hang out together. The Buff Orpington and Dark Brahma are friends.

They looked like they were dancing the chicken dance in the first photo.

They ate the lettuce I gave them and then they came over to the slider and spent some time watching us!

I guess that is only fair since we spend time watching them.

The sprouts still look the same and today is not really day three because I started the sprouts in the evening,  so this is really more of a day two. I did cover the jar with a kitchen towel because I read that the sprouts do better in a dark environment.

I was afraid to hide the jar away in a cupboard because I might forget about it and bad moldy things would happen.

I made breakfast (bacon and blueberry pancakes) for for dinner again.

I don't keep food lists anymore.

[8 eggs today]

When I was in school a couple years ago, someone suggested going to the library. He said that they have books and books about finding grants and scholarships.

Goodluck!

Hi Callie ~ Looking forward to seeing how the girls like their sprouts. We lost the young hen to a hawk yesterday , not a good day for me.
That pallet chicken coop is unbelievable , it looks like a little cottage. We use pallets for a compost bin , works pretty good.

I do sprouts for my parrots all the time. After about a day or so, I no longer leave them in water. Drain out the water and you will get growth. Just periodically rinse them with clean cool water to keep them moist but not sitting in water.

I love breakfast for dinner. We are having chocolate chip pancakes and sausage for dinner tonight! Good luck with the sprouts.

Someone told me that if you are raising chickens you should have a small salad garden for them. They love lettuce and besides, it keeps them busy.

Thanks, Callie, for taking the time to call attention to my website problem. My email was all messed up. I ended up deleting my first site and putting on my Gmail address. Then I needed an avatar. I hate pictures. I hope I got it straightened out and that it works now.
I gotta get outside! It's gorgeous!

Oh the chicken dance. Mom always ended up doing that when Sis was in gymnastics. She always made sure Sis did it with her...

We are supposed to be getting warm weather here for the rest of the week also, with the warmth we've had the snow has melted quite a bit! As always love to see the chickens, and Morgan?

That pallet coop is so cool! My kids did the chicken dance when they were young, I sometimes watch Lawrence Welk on public tv Saturday evenings. I've heard of a college in Calf. that is a working dairy that you work off your tuition, I have no other info.
