Sick Chicken Recovered

The sick Buff Orpington went from being floppy
and not able to walk for a week
to running around in her cage one morning.

I was very surprised to find a very upset chicken
one morning.
She wanted out!

A few years ago one of the Wyandottes
went through the same
illness and recovery.

We are very lucky that a few days of lots of rest, food and water
were enough to allow the hens to regain their health.

I kept the hen on a layer of straw in a cat carrier
for a few days
with access to lay, scratch, and water.
I covered up the carrier with plastic at night.

I kept her penned for an extra day
just to make sure she was feeling better
and then let her out to run around
with the other hens.

We have not been feeling well but are much better
except Kristine still has a bad cough.
I know I was not well because I didn't want to read blogs or post.
And I didn't even feel guilty.

Morgan still has medicine
to finish up but she seems to be feeling better too.

Just take some time to feel better. And I'm so glad the chicken is okay. They are just like us sometimes, miraculous little boogers!!

Better to take care of you and Kristine than blog.
Hope you both get to feeling better, soon.

Real glad to hear that your chicken is better, too! :)

I'm glad everyone is on the mend, and I hope you are all fully recovered soon.

Lock selves in room, with food and water, close the blinds and in a week you will be running around too!

This is my first visit to your blog. I love what I have read so fare. I live in the city after growing up on the farm and hope to get some chickens with in the next year.

Glad she got better! I hate it when any of my birds are unwell.
