Hail!

Hail, but not large hail. It was more rice size. The kids thought it was a fun experience being out in the hail.

The wind blew the cover off the wood in the wheelbarrow last night. Wet wood is not fun when trying to light the wood stove.

I dumped the water out and wheeled the barrow out to the wood shed, filled the barrow half full and kept it covered to keep it dry in transit.

After I wheeled the barrow back to the house and parked it next to the slider the kids helped me carry wood to fill the barrow. Nice having help.

Tonight the barrow is covered with a tarp weighted down with heavy wood to keep the wood dry. I hope.

I'm glad winter is back. Spring in February is kinda weird.

Thunder, Lightening, Hail

When the hail started I tried to catch the thunder and lightening but gave up and just went with this. The chickens finally went in their coop. I don't understand why they stand outside in the rain. The thunder was the big boom and crash sounding thunder. I'm staying in the house.

The chickens are locked up and unhappy
even though I gave them a lettuce treat.
They would much rather be out under the trees.

Since I am thinking about cars and eggs I looked on YouTube and found this fun little project for children to make a car out of an egg carton. I always liked my girls to be able to make things to play with. These little cars would make fun place cards especially if they each had the persons photo that was supposed to sit there. The cars could be filled with things appropriate to the theme of the party. Or the little cars would just be fun to make and play with.

Kristine is home after visiting the doctor and finding out that the tremor in her hand was due to whiplash in her shoulder. She will need therapy.

Tomorrow will be filled with dealing with insurance companies, getting a loaner car and dealing with any other stuff the accident caused. No surprise I suppose, but the insurance company is not being helpful. Sigh. So, evidently we have been paying for the privilege of having them brush us off. Argh!

I am so glad I don't have to interact with the insurance people. I am afraid I would get upset (angry) and that wouldn't be a good thing.

Hail And Rain

Snowing? No... that's hail!

The hail happened a few times during the day, but didn't last very long.

Kristine said she remembers one year up here when six inches of hail was dumped in ten minutes.

She said it was like driving through a slushy.

This hail was just enough to cover everything and then the rain would come and wash it away.

The hail was sure fun to watch from the nice warm house. The chickens were not pleased at all and stayed in their coop.

I cooked hamburgers in the chicken fryer on the wood stove.

Kristine brought me home a book. Yay! So, I'm going to go make a hot drink, curl up in my quilt and read my new book.

Eating fresh food is working. I eat very little packaged food.
