Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis

September ,2019
I'm having some vision problems
but thought I should try
and update this blog a bit.
Touch typing...so far so good
I hope not too many typos.

Hope I can get back to this blog
fairly soon
or at least when I can see a little better.

Banner and Libby are fine

I'll try and post a photo  later
when I can see a little better

__________

April 20th, 2019
Just checking in...
I guess this is cheating and I know I should
make a new post.
I will...soon.
Been busy.
Pups are all grown up.
No snow now.

______
It's snowing!
Not that much snow
but enough for the puppies to enjoy.
Puppy Snow Day!

Banner and Libby love the snow.
Banner
"what, hold still for a photo?"

Chicken/egg update
Chickens are fine.
But the market we used to
get our pasture eggs from
doesn't carry them anymore.

I'll check at the market again
to make sure they
didn't just mislay them... ha!

Check out the difference
between the pasture raised chicken eggs

(dark gold...hens can eat grass, etc.)
and the cage free chicken eggs

(light yellow...hens not raised on pasture
...probably in a barn.)

I really miss raising our own hens
and enjoying their eggs.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis

Yesterday the puppies had a good
experience at the vets meeting people
and getting another vaccination
which they didn't mind too much.

They both weigh
in the 20 lb. range.
They will each reach an
adult weight
around the 30 lb. range.

Today is back to rain and
maybe snow on Saturday.

The puppies have been enjoying
the sunny days we have had.

Here are a bunch of photos.

Banner and the blueberry ball,
He is 20.8 pounds as of yesterday.

Banner watching Libby.
They run and play and
then stop and watch each other.
Libby is 21 pounds.
She is watching Banner.
Banner
Libby looks as though she has grown a horn.
They love their chew sticks.
The puppies started on dry kibble yesterday.
They seem to like it
better than the puppy mix
we were cooking up.

Chicken update:
The two old chickens are
doing fine.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Sunny Day

The deck has finally dried
off so the puppies
can run around.

Banner chasing Libby

Banner trying to get on swing.
Libby is sitting in the sunshine.

Libby and Banner
resting after all that running.
The puppies have so much
fun running around
and playing together.

Banner's baby tooth.
The puppies are teething
and dropping teeth.
Kristine heard this tooth
hit the floor.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis

Time to quickly post some
photos.

The snow is back.

Libby sleeping after playing in the snow.

Banner sleeping after playing in the snow.

Wow... it has been at least 10 days
since I last posted.

But no more counting of days.

I think I will stick to counting time
by months.
We got the puppies the end
of December (12/30/16.)

It was rather nice
keeping track of how
long they have been with us.

Busy with puppies.
Just like babies
puppies demand more time
and attention as they
grow older.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 52

Eek!
It has been a week...
I had a birthday...
We had more rain
and even some snow.

Banner making yellow snow.
The puppies
have had their last
series of vaccinations.

Now they still need
their rabies and
leptospirosis shots

Once they have all their
vaccinations
we can take them
out and about
and to puppy training
and socialization classes.

The puppies had a lot of fun
running around
in the house today.

A tired puppy
is a good puppy!

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 45

The deck was dry
on Wednesday.

Libby and Banner
running on the deck.

Then it rained.
The puppies are stuck
in the house again

Banner doing his circle trick
with Libby holding on to the other
side of the toy
running around the outside.

More rain forecast
until Tuesday.

The puppies at play are always
supervised.

Libby and Banner
sharing the chew stick.

I've lost track of time.

Last post was on the 10th
and that was day 38.
So I'm going to go with 45.
Amazing!
I missed 5 days.
It felt like 2.
Busy, busy with two puppies.

I'm off to make their dinner.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 37/Update 38

Libby and Banner
sharing
a
chew
on a bully stick.

They play quieter
when sharing
one chew stick.

When I gave them each
a chew stick
there was less sharing
and more
trying to keep
a stick for themselves alone.

Tomorrow and Sunday
the skies
are supposed to clear
and the puppies
will be able to
play outside.
Yay!

I'm off to sweep
the deck
clear of
storm stuff...
leaves, branches, pine needles.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 37/38

Rain, Rain, Rain!
I love that it is raining.
But the puppies are stuck
in the house.

I'm home alone
with two puppies.
Busy!

Kristine got them some more
bully sticks.

This chewy thing is neat!
Banner thinks taking care
of his bully stick
is a big
responsibility.

Lots of whining and digging.
He has decided to bury
the chew stick
in the corner.

Libby is puzzled.
What is Banner doing?

I'm going to go eat dinner.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 34/Update 36

Come on, Banner...
Please...
I want my ears washed!

Please

And I would like my teeth
cleaned too!

The puppies play gently
together
and then can switch to
growly play.

I'm sure it all makes
sense to them.

Bye...
got to go take puppies out
and then feed them
and take them out again
and again...

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 34/Update 35

Mostly photos...
Rain again today...
Two puppies to care for...
no time...

They play rough and tumble.

Banner sneaking and then
pouncing on Libby
to get back the ball
she took from him.

They had a good time.

----------

Update Feb. 4th

Kristine trimmed
the puppies nails today.

The deck dried off enough
in the afternoon
for the puppies to run and play.

Hope to have time tomorrow
to take photos.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 33

Kristine was not well today.
And it was a rainy day.

So, I hooked the puppy fences
together and made a
large play area
where I could watch
both puppies.

The puppies had to play
inside... no fun on the deck.

Today the puppies have spent
a lot of time together.

Both of them had a good time
holding on to toys
and carrying them around.
Libby took this bone away from
Banner after they played tug.

Other tines they would race around
playing but when the
play got too rough
or loud I would stop them.

Then they would rest a bit and
start up the play again.

They are tired puppies tonight.
We are all tired.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 30 and update 31/32

"If you have the feeling
that something is wrong
don't be afraid to speak up."

January 30th, 2017
-------
I'll be away for a bit today.

Hope to post puppy photos later.

I grew up in the 1940's
and was taught and grew up believing
that America was a country for all.
All beliefs, races, etc., were to be respected
and America was a great country
because it was a
"melting pot.

Remember,
The majority of Americans
did not vote for Trump.
He became president because
of the electoral collage.

I believe the majority of Americans
are very afraid and appalled
at Trump's and the Republicans actions.

I too am afraid.
What will happen?
Is America a free country?
Will Americans speak up
for change
and see that our
constitution is followed?

Or is this the beginning
of the end
of America as I knew it?

Should I be afraid
because I have expressed my opinion here?
 Yes, I am afraid
but I will speak up.

I'm going to knit myself
a pinkpussyhat.
And wear it!

And speak up!

-----
Update Day 31

Libby had a bit of a reaction
to the vaccination.
She is still a bit lethargic.
However, she ate
and still played some.
The vet said she should
be recovered by 11pm.

Banner seems to have not
had a reaction.

We are tired.
Going to bed early.
An hour early I hope.

Hope Libby is feeling
back to normal
in the morning.

nite, nite

--------

Update February 1st
Morning...
Banner is barking.
I took him out.
He is in his play pen.
Barking.
His breakfast is cooking.
If I go back where he can see me he
will stop barking.
He is quiet now.
I'll go back when he is not barking.
Libby will be down soon
and they will play.
Quietly.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 29

What?
The puppies were sleeping
but lifted their heads
to check out
the iPad camera.

Banner and Libby
Here they are sleeping
after walks
and playing on the deck.

They play hard and need their rest.

It is so nice
to have a safe place
for the puppies to be in the house.

They have learned to move
the fence around
so we don't leave them alone.

On the 30th they go to the vets
for the next in the
series of vaccinations.

Today we have been working
on having the puppies
stop barking in the house.

We want them to learn to stop
barking when we tell them to stop.
So far, so good.

Barking is ok.
I just want them to stop
when they are told to stop.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 28

Today was a busy day.
Kristine trimmed the puppies nails
this morning.

I held Banner on my lap.
(he lay on his back)
while Kristine cut his nails.
This is not his favorite position
but after he relaxed
Kristine cut his nails.

Kristine held Libby in her lap
and trimmed her nails!

We took walks with the puppies
on paths through the woods.

The puppies also
got to run around on the deck.

They are tired out now
and sleeping after their dinner.

Tired puppies are good puppies.

No photos of stuff we did today.
I'll post some that I
may not have posted before.

This photo is a little blurry
but I like it better
than the other one I posted.

Libby still likes to chew on metal.
Different?
I think we will need to get
some metal crates.
They could probably chew their way
out of the plastic ones
if left alone?

We are working with the puppies
on simple commands
like sit, down, over, and clear.

I have Banner sit at the slider
until I open the door
and I go outside on the deck first.
Then when he looks at me
I tell him "Clear"
and he can then come out
on the deck with me.

We do the same thing when
coming back inside.
I don't want to have to worry
about tripping over my dog
in a rush to get through a door.

He is getting much better
at the stay part.
It is hard for him to stay
when he wants to run to see his sister.

There are a lot of fun commands
to teach them,
I want to get Banner a doggie bed
that I can carry around
and put down in places.
Then Banner's job
will be to stay in the bed
when I tell him to.

My Dobes used to do that.
Sure made it easier to visit my
family with my dog
since she would stay on her bed
instead of running around.

I would put the bed in an out of the
way place where she could
see what was going on.

I'm looking forward to when
Banner will sit and stay.

Then we can play
Hide and Seek!

I'll leave him on a Stay.
I'll hide...then call him
and he will
have to come find me.
He'll get a food treat.
Fun!

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 27

Kristine took this photo
of the puppies.

I think they are both
chewing on a toy?

Banner and Libby
Or they are trying
to chew their way into the crate?
Sleeping?

They were very active this morning
and slept most of the
rest of the day.

Libby is a bigger eater
than Banner
and she usually finishes
all her food
and wants more.
She gets more.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 26

Banner, all tired out
after a walk in the snow.

It is also warm near the wood stove.

Libby and Banner had been out
on the icy
snow covered deck
having a wonderful time.

They discovered that if they stopped
running they would slide!

One of them did it by accident
and then they did it on purpose.

Wish we could have taken photos.

Libby and Banner
work on getting a bone out of
a toy that has kibble in it.

We have to be their mother
and tell them when
to calm down
if their play gets too rough.

They usually
call a halt themselves
when one of them
squeaks ouch!
They back off, pause, then
resume their play.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 26

Busy day...
I need to go play with Banner now
so this is a short post...
but I did get some
photos today...

I was surprised that there
was a little new snow
this morning.

And I was surprised the snow
lasted all day.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 24/25

Picture two corgi puppies
racing around.
See all the puppy prints!

The puppies are large enough that
they can't fit through the railings.
Yay!
The puppies would run around.
Then it would snow
and cover up the prints.
Then they would run around again.

Kristine tried to get some
good photos of
the puppies in the snow
but that didn't happen.

They did also get their
nails trimmed yesterday.

We have spent most of the
snow days
drying off puppies.

They do love the snow!

Libby
Kristine did manage to get
a photo of Libby in the snow.

It may snow again tomorrow?
I hope so.

Chicken update:
The two elderly hens
are still doing well.
They don't like the snow so much.

Raising Two Welsh Cardigan Corgis - Day 23

Libby getting toweled dry
after a trip out to potty.
Rain and slushy almost snow
today and the only
thing new
was we introduced
the puppies
to a battery operated
nail trimmer.
We did one nail.

It must have sounded different
than the one they
were used to
because they didn't even
want the liver treats.

Oh well...

Perhaps a slower
introduction with lots of treats?
Or a regular nail trimmer
might be the thing to do.

Everything seems to take
longer because of
the weather.

Still I am glad of the rain!

Nite, nite Banner.
