Look! A duck in the water! |
No... can't be a duck... its got fluffy chicken feathers! |
What? |
Both of these Light Brahmas love to play in the water.
On hot days
I fill up the water bowl
and let it overflow and make a puddle.
These hens love to scratch around in the puddle.
They don't play nice
and share their play puddle very often.
There
under the little stack of branches
in front of Morgan
is the rock that I tripped over.
Today I stopped hurting, so that's good.
This evening I had to turn off and unplug the computer
because we got a surprise.
Lots of thunder!
But there was a little rain too
so hopefully there won't be any forest fires.
It is almost 3AM
I stayed up until the thunder pretty much stopped
and I could finish my post
and send a chat message to Kristine
and let her know we survived the thunder .

Some of my hens love the puddles, too. So funny. I'll set the sprinkler near their run so it makes puddles and they scratch to their hearts content.
Chickens splashing in the puddles, what fun. I've seen mine crossing the creek in trepidation, but they never splash and party!
We've had plenty of that thunder of late.Intimidating, isn't it.
Puddle chickens ;) Mine like the mudd too! We are pretty dry here also, we have had some rain but not nearly enough to green up the grass, it has been three weeks and still haven't mowed grass yet and it isn't all that long. I think the weeds will take over first! Hope the fires don't get started!
I'm so excited that we actually got a tiny bit of rain overnight too. My peafowl like to stand in the wading pool when it's hot.
I think the puddles help them stay cool.
Glad you are feeling better, Callie.
How cute! Love those Brahmas!
Sounds like a great way to cool down on a hot day. Glad to hear you have no pain today. Loved the pictures. Thanks for stopping by.
I like your duck! :) We've had some really hot days here lately and I've been misting the chickens outside with a garden hose. They take it pretty well!
