Migraine Update

I had a cluster of 7 migraines
(Feb. 17, 20, 26, Mar. 1, 5, 6, 7)
A week has passed since my last migraine!
So, I thought I would try and post the record
I started of the food I was eating.
I was hoping to identify any food triggers
and I should have started the record earlier
but I didn't think of it or feel well enough.
I used to just stop eating anything except water and rice
until the migraines stopped.
This time I tried to wait them out and
finally went to eating only fresh foods.

Such a grey old ugly photo!
But it will enlarge if you click on it.
I was also trying out the zoom on my camera
but I don't like the results.
If I do this again, I will have to turn the
brightness all the way up on the screen
and see if that helps.

On a lighter note here are some links of some horses.
Kristine sent me this photo here
when she was in Australia.
And I found this photo
yesterday here.

Country Mouse

This little mouse found itself trapped
at the bottom of a feed barrel.
It was nice and fat but not very happy.
Usually, the mouse could have climbed out
up the side of the feed sack
but the sack no longer reached to the top
of the barrel.

I really like this photo widget
Photo Drop
Well, I like the look you can get with
the push pin and colors
but I don't like that it
won't enlarge when you click on it.
This widget is for the Mac.

Sunset House - San Francisco

Google maps is pretty great!
I've been looking for things that are easy to post
while I recuperate and I found
this photo capture I had made of a house
where I lived when I was around 10 years old.
I remember Truman was president when I lived there.
This house is only 2 short ends of city blocks
from the ocean.
I went to sleep every night listening
to the waves break against the beach and
to the foghorns of ships as they
passed in and out of the bay.
I loved to go to the beach after storms
and pick up stuff that had been washed ashore.
Shells, polished rocks, shark teeth,
sometimes I would even find bits of jade.

Bathroom DIY V

This is the first thing that I built in the bathroom.
I hadn't planned to put up the bead board
so I had not done any measuring.
If I had, the top of this would have met the top of the bead board.
I probably could have bought one of these at Target
for about what it cost me to make this
but I was having fun.
I did make it all out of scrap wood.
I like building stuff.

Good Morning!

I love how the morning sun lightens the tops of the trees.
Hopefully, I will get outside today.
Maybe, even some more photos later.

Bathroom DIY IV

I really didn't do much here
except for curtains, the short cabinet, and rounded the corners.
I did put down a new vinyl floor.
It didn't snow last night. Ha!
I got away without having a migraine last night
which is neat and scary.

Neat because I don't have the pain
and scary because I'm so afraid of getting another one.
My eyes are still funny. Phooey.

Bathroom DIY III

I didn't need to paint these shelves
but I bolted them securely to the wall.
I hung a lantern to put candles in when the power goes out.
Kristine gave me the picture for one of my birthdays
and the hat was Kathleen's when we lived in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
It looks like a Santa Cruz hat.
I am still recovering.
Kristine said it is supposed to snow tonight.
Amazing.

Bathroom DIY II

Here is the next section of the bathroom.
I tiled the counter top,
glassed the cupboard doors and painted.
The bathroom is small, but compact.
Lots of stuff in there.
But it is bright and shiny.

My next step in combating my migraines
is to eliminate prepared foods.
This may also work as a reducing diet. :)
Something is triggering the migraines
and I just need to get rid of the trigger or wait it out.
I don't want to have to go back on medication.

Bathroom DIY

I looked around for something easy to post.
First, the weather today.
Next some photos of the diy stuff I did in the bathroom.
I moved a kitchen cabinet into the space
that held the washer and dryer.
Then replaced them with a stackable
front loader washer and dryer.
And hung a shower curtain in front.

It is my wish that the migraines will go away
because I really don't want to have to go to the doctor
and have to take medicine.
And besides the posts are getting boring.
We had pizza last night and I had another migraine.
Don't know if it has anything to do with what I eat or not?

Garden

This is a winter photo of my little garden.
I built the entrance out of scrap lumber
and a gate I found.
I have to go rest my poor head.
Another migraine.

Chicken Beaks

This is another attempt at putting
beaks on the chickens.
The first time I think I had too many layers of fabric
and the seams split when I tried to turn
the chicken right side out.

I had another migraine last night
and I am getting really tired of having them back.
I've had them come in clusters before
and I looking forward to them going away.

Blue Sky

There was snow, hail and rain today and last night.
But we have a break in the weather!
The blue sky and white clouds
are lit up by the setting sun.

Morgan had a trip to the groomer yesterday.
I haven't decided if she likes smelling of shampoo,
but I do know she wants to run around outside
and roll in the leaves.
Kristine had to pull two ticks off of her head yesterday
after she came home from the groomer.
Don't know if she got them here or there?

There is a water filled pad under the brown cushion.
In the hot, hot, summer days
we remove the cushion and
Morgan lays on the water pad,
which wicks away heat from her body.
She used to lay on the tile entry,
but when it gets so hot that the tile is warm
then she heads for the water pad.

Treadle Book

This is the beginning of my book of information about my
New Home Treadle Sewing Machine.
Marion sent me files that I printed out of
The New Home Sewing Machine Manual.
I can't read the pages very well
so I transcribed the pages
and will print them out and keep them
in this book along with the manual.

Marion has some wonderful photos of her treadles
on her blog here and has been very generous
and helpful with sending me the manual
and information about restoring my treadle.
A very sweet lady.

It is still raining and snowing on the other end of town.
I have started another list of the foods I am eating every day
to see if I can come up with a food trigger that is causing
the migraines to occur.

Lid Chickens

This is the start of a Chicken Lid Pot Holder
that I began working on a few days ago.
I tried out putting colored beaks
on the chickens, but that didn't work out
and I had to take them off.
I would like to blame all my sewing problems
on my migraines.

It is raining and wind storming again.
The tops of the trees whip about in the rain and wind,
then there is a calm for a few minutes
and they stand still as we wait for another storm blast to arrive.

The trees are so tall that the "weather," except for the rain,
happens up in the tree tops,
while down on the ground there is scarcely any wind.
I hope the power doesn't go out.
There is a good chance of a tree going down
with all the wind bending the trees about.

Tonight I watched
Indiana Jones and the Legend of the Crystal Skull
on my Mac. It was OK, but not as good as the first three.
