Button, Button

This is the back of my machine with the case pulled off. I looked for the button to lower the feed dogs, didn't see the button, so I called the sewing machine store. Help! What I needed to do was feel for the feed dog button.
Turns out the button was there. Duh! Underneath! Why am I so lame. Good grief, I couldn't find the feed dog button. So sad, so sad, because it turns out I still can't do any free motion quilting because the Heart Truth doesn't come with that foot. Soooo, I need to buy a darning foot!  So, I'll add that to the list of stuff I need to have someone pick up for me next time they are in that part of town. I sure do spend a lot less money since I stopped driving because of the migraines.

These hens are dust bathing in the shade.
It is just too hot for sun dust bathing.
They are digging pot holes.
And they are not doing the foundation any good either.

Treadle Book

This is the beginning of my book of information about my
New Home Treadle Sewing Machine.
Marion sent me files that I printed out of
The New Home Sewing Machine Manual.
I can't read the pages very well
so I transcribed the pages
and will print them out and keep them
in this book along with the manual.

Marion has some wonderful photos of her treadles
on her blog here and has been very generous
and helpful with sending me the manual
and information about restoring my treadle.
A very sweet lady.

It is still raining and snowing on the other end of town.
I have started another list of the foods I am eating every day
to see if I can come up with a food trigger that is causing
the migraines to occur.

New Home Treadle

Is this cool or what!

This is a New Home Treadle Sewing Machine
with attachments.
Given to me by Jean.
Thank you, Jean!!!
I love you.

Take off the wooden cover and

you find the sewing machine.
New Home
S. M. Co.
Orange, Mass.

There is a middle drawer,
four side drawers,
the needle will move up and down, and
the treadle works.
But there is no belt.

yet...
A repair person is looking for a belt.

I'm going to call her Lovey
because that is the first name that came to mind.
And, besides she looks sweet.

In need of cleaning.
I'm looking into what I should use to clean
without harming her.

There are also attachments and
old packages of needles.

I slid the metal pieces back and found the bobbin.
It looks something like a large bullet.
I have no clue how to remove or wind the bobbin
yet... :)

I love all this stuff!

I spent most of the day doing google searches
looking for information about this machine.
But I couldn't find this exact model.

I would love to sew some blocks
using the treadle.

I have read references to these old machines as
boat anchors!
There were hundreds of thousands made.
I'm sure this machine has no monetary value
but it is priceless to me
because it belongs in the family
and Jean gave it to me.

Besides,
I want to play with it and sew something!
And have fun!
