In the morning the plan so far is for a group of us to go to an orchard and pick peaches! I'm looking forward to spending the morning outside under the peach trees with family and some very nice people having a fun time doing some needed work. And I really would like some fresh peaches!
If anyone knows a good way to rid a lawn of thistles besides spraying, please let me know.
I am very thankful to my daughter's father-in-law for the drive to Idaho! This is a photo of the smoke from the American Fire as we drove through the mountains toward Nevada.

Try spraying with vinegar, up close and on the whole plant. Don't spray the whole yard unless you want to kill the whole yard. It is not to hard on grass, but why spray it?
All I know is mow, mow, mow.
And don't go out in bare feet.
There are 'green' weed killers that may work.
I haven't found any work gloves thick enough to pull them...

I hate thistles!!! My cat comes in with them stuck to his fur and i get them stuck in my shoes from time to time. The only true way to get them gone forever is to dig each and everyone of those nasty plants up. I did it to my front yard a year ago. My grass is finally coming back.
