Tall Trees

"My leaves are turning crimson," the giant oak tree said,
"It's almost time these children should seek their winter's bed,
But how they still cling to me and gleam with crimson hue,
They truly are more lovely than cirrus clouds of blue.
Winifred Sackville Stoner, Jr. - A Song of the Woods

I love and am grateful for the seasons.

I can't get all of these trees into one photo
without backing far away and then they just look like regular trees.
I thought I would try two photos to try and give an idea of their height. The bottom photo also shows the greenhouse and the woodshed. The top of the pine tree is not able to be seen from this angle.

This is a photo I took on Sunday.

I'm using old photos because I slept the day away because of a migraine. Phooey. All my painting plans are put off until tomorrow. I hope that will work out ok. We had leftovers tonight. I just heated up whatever I could find in the fridge. Think I'm going to go back to bed.

[3 eggs today]
Rain tomorrow. 80% chance.

Migraine Update

I had a cluster of 7 migraines
(Feb. 17, 20, 26, Mar. 1, 5, 6, 7)
A week has passed since my last migraine!
So, I thought I would try and post the record
I started of the food I was eating.
I was hoping to identify any food triggers
and I should have started the record earlier
but I didn't think of it or feel well enough.
I used to just stop eating anything except water and rice
until the migraines stopped.
This time I tried to wait them out and
finally went to eating only fresh foods.

Such a grey old ugly photo!
But it will enlarge if you click on it.
I was also trying out the zoom on my camera
but I don't like the results.
If I do this again, I will have to turn the
brightness all the way up on the screen
and see if that helps.

On a lighter note here are some links of some horses.
Kristine sent me this photo here
when she was in Australia.
And I found this photo
yesterday here.

Bathroom DIY

I looked around for something easy to post.
First, the weather today.
Next some photos of the diy stuff I did in the bathroom.
I moved a kitchen cabinet into the space
that held the washer and dryer.
Then replaced them with a stackable
front loader washer and dryer.
And hung a shower curtain in front.

It is my wish that the migraines will go away
because I really don't want to have to go to the doctor
and have to take medicine.
And besides the posts are getting boring.
We had pizza last night and I had another migraine.
Don't know if it has anything to do with what I eat or not?

Garden

This is a winter photo of my little garden.
I built the entrance out of scrap lumber
and a gate I found.
I have to go rest my poor head.
Another migraine.

Chicken Beaks

This is another attempt at putting
beaks on the chickens.
The first time I think I had too many layers of fabric
and the seams split when I tried to turn
the chicken right side out.

I had another migraine last night
and I am getting really tired of having them back.
I've had them come in clusters before
and I looking forward to them going away.

Dirty Dozen

I'll blame the fact that this post
is backwards on the migraine
I got last night.

At least I can see today,
but I am reduced to just doing
mundane things, like
collecting eggs and getting wood for the wood stove.

The photo above shows the eggs
finishing drying.
I then use a pencil and date each egg
and place them in the container,
cover and put them in the refrigerator.

Here the eggs
are getting dried off
after their cold water wash.

I put the eggs on the vent
to finish drying.

Oh yes, and here
are the muddy eggs
just in from the chicken coop
waiting for their trip to the sink.

I collected eight eggs
and went out later and found this one
to make up the nine eggs you see above.
[there were already 3 eggs in the container]

The post would have made a lot more sense
if I had managed to put the photos in the reverse order.

Home Away From Home

This is our motor home all snug and dry under its very own structure. We have this motor home because our house was damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in the Santa Cruz mountains. The house was red tagged and we needed a place to live for  two and a half years. It took ten years to get our house fixed and ready to sell so we could move. I have lots of neat earthquake stories, but I will have to save them for another day.

Today I got another migraine which is not good, not good at all.

Slushy Snow

Slushy snow shows that we are on the tail end of the storms; we are looking forward to seeing some sunshine tomorrow. It is going to be in the fifty's during the day for the next week.

Monday we are planning to go out for lunch for my birthday. There may be snow Monday night, but we can leave for home before dark.

Yesterday, I had one of my horrid migraines, which knocked me for a loop. I so want to be over the aftermath of the attack. Nothing much happening but me sleeping and being a wimp.
